Stay at home moms- Self Worth

It can be hard at times for a new mom to transition from being a working mom to a stay-at-home mom. Many times after the baby is born and everything goes back to normal, the new mom will feel a bit lost. This is common because your life has changed in so many ways in such a short amount of time. If you are being to feel like you are overwhelmed and discourage, then take a quick break to regroup and get your thoughts together. Personal time is one of the best ways to remember the things are the most important to you.

New moms may find that it is difficult to separate yourself from your new baby. This is not a literal term, I mean for you to define yourself as something other than a mom. It is important that you remember who you are outside of being a parent. Are you an athlete? Are you a designer? These are the kinds of things that will help you separate who or what you are. You want to know that there is more to you than just a mom, but there is nothing wrong with just being a mom if that is what you have desire to be.

It can also be a good thing if you have something outside of the home that can help remind yourself that you can be both a mom and a career woman. Finding something that interest you can really have an impact on your own self worth, but remember it only matters what your opinion of yourself is, not someone else’s. You are the only one who can determine yourself worth.

Healthy Dinners around Extracurricular Activities

The new school is starting and that usually means that all the sports and extracurricular activities are sure to follow. Healthy dinners are not always easy to accomplish during these times, but it does not meant that it is impossible. There are always going to be times when you just cannot swing getting a health dinner at meal time, but there are some ways that you can prepare in advance that might help you out a little.

A slow cooker or crock pot is a great way for you to get a healthy dinner going and still be able to get to the activities and back with a delicious meal for everyone. You make all kinds of food with a slow cooker and you don’t have to worry about slaving over a hot stove just to get a healthy meal on the table before bed time.

There are all kinds of dinner that you can make. One of my favorites is chicken and dumplings. This dinner is so good because you just put this on in the morning and let cook all day long and it is ready and waiting for you when you walk through the door. One great thing about slow cooking your meals is that your whole house will be filled with the smell of your delicious dinner.

Stay at home moms- Goodbye Summer

It’s that time of year again when the summer is winding down, and the kids are all heading back to school. Everyone is getting ready at the same time so that they make it school on time. Moms are making sure that everyone is fed before they walk out the door to catch the bus. No more sleeping in until ten. The kids are complaining about going to be too early, and how they are not tired yet. These are all the things that you have to look forward to as a new school years is about to begin.

The great thing about being a stay at home mom is that you lose some of your responsibility when the school year starts. When your kids return to school, you don’t have to have lunch ready for all them, or you don’t have to fit about being quite during certain times of the day. You are free to do your work without a lot of interruptions.

I know that most often there will still be at least one kid at home during the day, but one is a lot easier to handle than two or three. You won’t have someone constantly fighting with each other. There will be no more fights about sharing who had it first all day long. Saying goodbye to summer for moms is not always a bad thing.

Are You Feeling Lost?

Are you a mom that does not have much going on outside of the home? Do people only see you as a stay at home mom? Are you often over looked because people think that as a stay at home mom you don’t know what is going on in the world? This happens often with mothers that have chosen to stay home. They are commonly seen as people who are not smart enough or too lazy to get what is considered a “real” job.

Being a stay at home mom does not mean that you are not smart or that you are too lazy. Stays at home moms are often busier than most that have full time jobs outside of the home. If you have been in this place, I hope that you spoke up for yourself. This is a difficult position to be in because you want respect from the people you are around all the time. People who have never been a stay at home mom tend to make assumption about how it really is, but often time they have absolutely no idea.

One of the best ways to receive respect from people that you around, it to respect yourself for the job that you have taken. It is not an easy job to take care of someone every single day. Staying home is a job that you and your children can benefit from.

ME or Family First?

Moms are held to a higher standard than other women. We are supposed be all about taking care of our family and putting everyone else first. This is a difficult thing to do all the time. Many people do not leave room error. Moms do not have super powers that make them less vulnerable to everyday life. They are going to be times that they will need to put themselves first.

Being a mom does not mean that you have to completely lose yourself entirely. You are going to have a desire to put your family first in most cases, but that does not mean that you have to do this all the time. It is okay if you make time for you to do things that you enjoy as well. You do not have to go to every event that your child may want you to as long as there is going to be someone there for them like a grandparent. Sometimes that can even be more fun for your child to share an event with the rest of the family that may not get to see them very often. Children love being the center of attention sometimes.

If you are a stay at home mom you may find it even more difficult to distinguish yourself from your children, then is when you need to look back at the things that you used to enjoy. Take a look back at the past and see if your interests are still the same. If they are not, then start looking at new things that might interest you and get involved.

Workaholic

It is difficult to find the right balance between work and family especially if you work outside of the home. There are often times that jobs can interfere with your family time. This makes it hard to stay caught up with each other and to make sure that your children are getting the attention that they need. You cannot get that lost time back with them. Time with your children while they are young will not last forever. Eventually they will turn into teenagers and will want nothing to do with you. Take the time now to know who your children are.

If you have a very demanding job, then you may find that it is next to impossible to find the time to just sit and be with your children. This can also me a matter of how much do you want to be with your children. Is it more important for you to have time away from the house, or do you want to put your children first? I am not talking about quieting your job especially in an economy like today’s, but are you wasting time away from the house that could be better spent with your family.

If you are spending too much time away, it may be difficult for you have enough time at home to relate to your children. It would be a great idea to set aside one day or night a week that everyone spends time as a family. It will really help you stay connected especially through the rough teen years.
