WAHM tips- Work at home moms tips

My best networking tip is to actually get out and network- online and offline! Sounds simple, right? But so many work at home moms don’t get out of their house and don’t join online groups. They work hard on their sites and blogs, but they are not out there promoting what they have to offer.

First, online solutions are easy for work at home moms with internet access. You meet some great and resourceful people online by joining quality online forums or groups. Some mom forums are not the greatest for networking because they are about being a mom, not a work at home mom. Others are great for both. It is all about what you are looking for.

Two terrific online forums for work at home moms are the Smart Moms forum and Mommy’s Helper Forum. Read more about making new online friends at my work at home mom blog.

Second, offline solutions are also easy but sometimes harder to find. Join moms groups or community service organizations. The local Chamber of Commerce is also a great resource to meet other business professionals. I think sometimes work at home moms don’t see their business as a business and do not think they are worthy of a business group. This is so incorrect! Find a local group and meet some local contacts. They may not be the main source of revenue, but you never what might result. And they are a great source of ideas and support.

No matter how you network, you must network! Networking is one of the most important parts of your business. Make sure your incorporate networking into your home based business.blog</a>.

Work at home moms- Nanny Time

Do you work from home, but you just cannot seem to get any work done? Your kids just don’t cooperate with the schedule that you have set for everyone? I know that this is a major problem for moms that want to work from home. You just cannot seem to get everything accomplished in one day that needs to be done. A new trend of hiring a nanny for part of the day is becoming very popular.

Hiring a nanny for only part of the day allows you to get work done, but it also allows your children to stay in their own environment. You also do not have to worry about leaving your children alone with someone you hardly know. This is a great option for people that do not want to leave their children in a day care, but also need to keep a job.

This is also a less expensive option. You do not have to pay a day care for only half the work. Often times using a college student works out great. It will give the student extra cash, and you peace of mind that you are working and your children are being cared for properly. College students are great for this type of job because they usually have a more flexible schedule then most other people.

Work at home moms- Mom Overload

Do you wish that you had a “reset” button every time that you felt a meltdown coming on? This would be the perfect solution to all those times that you felt like you were going to explode during all those long car trips, never ending errands, and constant bickering among your children. I would love to have a reset button that put everything back into place including the pieces of your house. You would never have to worry about a bad day again. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a “reset” button.

There have been so many days when I could have used a “reset” button. I would not have to yell and scream at the kids to behave, or deal with annoying people in line at the grocery store. You know the ones that want to tell you how bad of day they are having like no one else could possibly be going through anything worse.

We all have bad, stressful days. We all need a break from these kinds of days. When I find myself in the middle of one of these days, I practically have a meltdown. I just want everything to be quiet, and I want everyone to do what I want them to do. As a mom, I don’t think that that sounds unreasonable, but my kids do. So that is why I will try to find some way to escape.

I will take a long bathroom break where I just read. I have a pillow hidden under the cabinet so that when I need to escape it is already there. I just flop down on the floor and enjoy fifteen minutes pure, peaceful quiet. It does wonders for the mind. Just a little reminder though make sure you have had time to clean the floor first.

Stay at home moms- Self Worth

It can be hard at times for a new mom to transition from being a working mom to a stay-at-home mom. Many times after the baby is born and everything goes back to normal, the new mom will feel a bit lost. This is common because your life has changed in so many ways in such a short amount of time. If you are being to feel like you are overwhelmed and discourage, then take a quick break to regroup and get your thoughts together. Personal time is one of the best ways to remember the things are the most important to you.

New moms may find that it is difficult to separate yourself from your new baby. This is not a literal term, I mean for you to define yourself as something other than a mom. It is important that you remember who you are outside of being a parent. Are you an athlete? Are you a designer? These are the kinds of things that will help you separate who or what you are. You want to know that there is more to you than just a mom, but there is nothing wrong with just being a mom if that is what you have desire to be.

It can also be a good thing if you have something outside of the home that can help remind yourself that you can be both a mom and a career woman. Finding something that interest you can really have an impact on your own self worth, but remember it only matters what your opinion of yourself is, not someone else’s. You are the only one who can determine yourself worth.

Stay at home moms- Goodbye Summer

It’s that time of year again when the summer is winding down, and the kids are all heading back to school. Everyone is getting ready at the same time so that they make it school on time. Moms are making sure that everyone is fed before they walk out the door to catch the bus. No more sleeping in until ten. The kids are complaining about going to be too early, and how they are not tired yet. These are all the things that you have to look forward to as a new school years is about to begin.

The great thing about being a stay at home mom is that you lose some of your responsibility when the school year starts. When your kids return to school, you don’t have to have lunch ready for all them, or you don’t have to fit about being quite during certain times of the day. You are free to do your work without a lot of interruptions.

I know that most often there will still be at least one kid at home during the day, but one is a lot easier to handle than two or three. You won’t have someone constantly fighting with each other. There will be no more fights about sharing who had it first all day long. Saying goodbye to summer for moms is not always a bad thing.

Are You Feeling Lost?

Are you a mom that does not have much going on outside of the home? Do people only see you as a stay at home mom? Are you often over looked because people think that as a stay at home mom you don’t know what is going on in the world? This happens often with mothers that have chosen to stay home. They are commonly seen as people who are not smart enough or too lazy to get what is considered a “real” job.

Being a stay at home mom does not mean that you are not smart or that you are too lazy. Stays at home moms are often busier than most that have full time jobs outside of the home. If you have been in this place, I hope that you spoke up for yourself. This is a difficult position to be in because you want respect from the people you are around all the time. People who have never been a stay at home mom tend to make assumption about how it really is, but often time they have absolutely no idea.

One of the best ways to receive respect from people that you around, it to respect yourself for the job that you have taken. It is not an easy job to take care of someone every single day. Staying home is a job that you and your children can benefit from.
